Bethel Church of God is a classic Pentecostal church affiliated with the Church of God with headquarters in Cleveland, TN. The mission of the Church of God is to communicate the full gospel of Jesus Christ in the Spirit and power of Pentecost.
When you visit our congregation you can expect the following:
1. A Loving/Welcoming Congregation
We love people and are considered by many a "friendly church". We want you to be feel welcome. You will be treated with love and respect when you attend.
2. Teaching
Each Sunday morning @ 10:00, we have systematic Bible study. We have classes for various ages. Discipleship is a key component to the Christian life and we endeavor to fulfill our commission to "make disciples" thru the Sunday School ministry.
3. Music and Singing
The Bible exhorts us to make a joyful noise unto the Lord. It further instructs us to encourage one another with songs and music. Each service is filled with music and singing as we lift our praises to the Lord.
We love old-fashioned hymns and also incorporate modern praise and worship style music into our service as well.
4. Pentecostal Worship
You may see us lift and/or clap our hands. You may hear us lift our voices loudly as we glorify the Lord. From time to time to might cry and on occasion we might just shout or take off running. Don't be alarmed, we're just loving our Jesus and responding to the presence of God.
5. Offering
Ever organization has its expenses and the same holds true for the church. We're not seeking to raise a profit or pad our pockets. Our heart's desire to see the Kingdom of Jesus Christ advance here on earth. Giving is a scriptural commandment and a tangible way of expressing our love and faith towards God.
6. Word Centered Preaching
Typically following the music and a time of worship, our pastor (or various guest speakers from time to time) proclaim the Word of God. The Word of God is central to our faith. It has life giving power. The anointing of the Holy Spirit makes preaching effective and takes the Word of God preached and applies it to individual hearts as the Spirit sees fit. Our pastor endeavors to preach messages that are both scripturally/theologically sound and relevant to our every day lives.
7. Prayer
Prayer is the most important thing we do as believers. At the conclusion of the preaching, time is devoted to prayer. An altar call is usually extended to those who feel a need to pray. If you come and kneel at the altar, there will be someone who will come and pray with you. On occasion, an invitation is given for those who are sick to come down front where leaders of the church will join together and lay hands on you according to the scriptures (James 5:14-15) and ask God to heal you.
8. Fellowship/Community
In addition to our church services, we have a variety of fellowship events scheduled through out the year. This is a time for getting to know one another more closely. The church body of believers is also a place to share your joys and sorrows. None of us are called to serve the Lord in isolation, but in community. You'll find in our times of fellowship, we're just normal people - but people who's lives have been changed by the power of an Almighty God.
